"next screen" and "previous screen" action

Hello,

not sure if this is well explained somewhere, if yes sorry, wasn't able to locate it in the docs: how are the "previous screen" and "next screen" actions are supposed to work? Especially with regards to instances?

I really can't figure out their behaviour. I've played with them - some times they do what i expect, sometimes not. Mostly they feel like a "breadcrump" like feature but the breadcrumps somehow are lost the other moment.
