A12 panel running iX: modbus RTU communication drop outs

Hi,
We are using an A12 panel with iX run-time. The A12 is a Modbus-rtu slave responding to requests from a Single Board Computer, the Modbus-rtu master, via RS-232 at 115200 baud. The master is issuing 2 requests periodically at a rate of 15 Hz.
We are observing after a long interval, for example 12 hours, a momentary loss of communications (A12 response is timing out) that may last for about 20 seconds. We have monitored the A12 CPU use and it is approximately 59% but can observe periodic peaks of about 82%. The A12 memory use is approx.52%.
The A12 tag update are all allocated to poll group 1 (500ms).
Any ideas on what may be causing the timeouts?
Regards,
Ken
